jamais vu

Jamais Vu

The feature film by Jayson Wooten

The second studio album by Elijah Meraki.

Named after the psychological phenomenon meaning “never seen,” Jamais Vu explores what happens when memory, emotion, and identity begin to distort. When moments you once lived through feel unfamiliar, distorted, or unreal.

A story told through nonlinear storytelling, fragmented memories, and shifting emotional states, the film follows an aspiring photographer trapped inside romanticized recollections of his past, unable to distinguish emotional truth from reality. As memories replay and repeat, they become addictive, vivid, intoxicating, and ultimately paralyzing.

The album functions as a parallel body of work, both a soundtrack and an extension of the film’s inner world. As the film externalizes memory through imagery and narrative. The album will internalize it by capturing all the feelings, impulses, and contradictions through sound.

Together, the film and album exist as one experience:
a psychological drama rooted in magical realism, examining self-love, obsession, ambition, morality, and the danger of mistaking memory for the present.
